What is the bigger shock?

Seeing the school go or your hair from high School go?

The old Jerry Garcia hair is gone, but, his muscianship lives on.

Congrats.

Wow, the memorial page really got me thinking. The last time I saw Dawn she was fishing along the locks of the C&O Canal. So many memories and 'so little time' (as the song written by Mr. Benedict).
Love and prayers for all, Lee

Reagarding Dawn Thir:

I has a lovely conversation with both of Dawn's parents.

They were very moved that we created a Memorial Page for Dawn and were elated we called earlier this week. We just learned of Dawn's passing through a very proactive classmate who found the information.

Dawn passed away from cancer. It runs in the family.

Mrs. This is a three times survivor.

I call every family on behalf of the class when folks pass away, but, I should call folks back and tell them about the memorial page.

We never found Dawn because she was married twice and the name changed.

That’s our challenge with finding all of the women.

So, classmates, help us find folks by actively searching for them and send us the email address.

I had wondered what had happend to her. Thanks to this site I got my answer. Good job Richard! I have also been able to contact an old friend.

Hi everyone,

I want to thank Richard for the call and the letters. I was in Florida moving my Mom to an Independent Living Facility. Everything is fine.

I can’t believe I’m missing in action. I have made it to every reunion until the 30th. I have also never moved in 24 years and have been at the same job for 15 years.

Thanks for finding me.

Here’s my address;

I don’t use a personal e-mail too much.

We had an interesting year. Larry (My husband of 27 years) wintered over in Antarctica for nine months with his current job. It was very cool. I met him in New Zealand for 7 days then we were off to Australia for several days. We hadn’t had a vacation like that since we had kids.

Keep in touch. I’ll try to make the 33 year party.

Thanks again,

Hello Rich how are you?

I am okay in Lubbock Texas and just plain love the laid back life style. The last reunion I was scared shitless driving on the belt way.I enjoy my life in west texas but i doubt I go back to Md except to either move Mom and Dad. They are in their 80s now.

I admit I was very uncomfortable at the 30th as I was correct in my assumption the cliques are still formed. Thats okay with me because I came from St Marys elem and its quite different from a catholic school to a piblic school.

I think i told you the last time i spoke with you I ws diagnosed late in life with ADD, the main reason I sucked in the class room No one really new at the time so i cant and wont blame anyone.. I am AUTISTIC (ASPERGERS SYNDROME) and thats why people thought I was introverted. I have a commodisorder and natural lifewlong depression. But hey life is GREAT in West Texas.

Now 30 years from school can you belive we cant live with out our pcs, cell phones, mp3 players and did i mention we have to pay for tv now. I never thought I would have a cell or pc and now i have them.. We even have remot controls so we dont have to get off our asses to change the channels.

Now a daily schedule for me is daily mass good for my soul. I am turning into a gym rat as well. I love to do about a90min of free weight training then 15,000meters on the concept 2 indoor rowing and then about 40 min on the stat bike. I just had my first knee surgerey bas I was in a amature rowing event in Dallsa last feb. I got there late but they let me row against a bunch of girls that were in High School. Pat can verify this he was watching me.

Next year I plan to win my age group 50m to 55. bNow back to Lubbock we dont have to shovel our cars after a snow storm we do get ice and huge t-storms. Slim to none on the HUMIDITY issue. Lots to do out here and love going to TEXASTECHfoot ball games. I follow the Redskins but only when they play the dallas Cowboys on the tube.

I tried college but i couldnt stand sittin in a class room but I did the testing they have now and have a iq of 98 and have a high eq as well.

Enough of me let me know whats going on with you and Ill stay in e-mail contacts with class mates if they wish and in now way do i blame any one because no one knew about the diffacxuties i had..

Hers my e-mail and you can post this ---if you want to share this with class mates.

Mickey, how cool to hear that you are in west Texas. That's a long way from Rockville...! As far as reunions go, you've got me beat. At least you went to one. I have not been to any of them. When and if you do get back to Md. you've got to look some of us up and we can have a mini reunion. Good luck with the rowing I'll be cheering for you!!!

Hi Everyone,
I just love reading these notes and letters and finding out how people are doing. We each have our past and struggles and it's so great to see how we have been able to overcome and move on. Mickey's letter was so moving and I just hope I'll be able to get back to a reunion sometime soon to catch up with so many more of you. I've only been to 2 (10th and 30th) but each time I ran into someone (clique and non-clique) who opened up my eyes to the wonder in all of us.
Rich, keep up the good work on the website (I'll try to help when I can). Kyle, sorry to be missing your food and beer on the 27th - sure it'll be good. And for anyone who wants to write to me - my email is [email protected]

Hello to everyone it seems like forever since I've talked or seen anyone.Maybe the 15 year reunion. My story to make it short I'm not in my 50's either,I'm married (2nd.) time almost 20 years to Jerry Brown, which alot of you know from R.M.,J.W.M.S.and Twinbrook crowd that he hung out with.Together we have 6 kids,4 mine,1 his and we have a daughter who is almost 20 and in the U.S.M.C. she is stationed in Camp Lejuine,N.C. and loves it.Ironically all 4 of my kids graduated from R.M. all 3 of the boys played football for R.M.,for Coach Bonavia the youngest, when he played went to the the divisional championship(they lost)but it had been a long time.Their last name is Manco.Jerry and I have 4 grandkids 2 boys and 2 girls and 2 more on the way.We are still near we live in Silver Spring.Yes and that was my short version.Hope to see you all at the picnic. Hello to Everyone,
I would like to thank you Richard for your amazing efforts in keeping our class legacy alive. The past month I have had the pleasure of speaking to many former classmates and it's been inspiring and uplifting to know that everyone is doing well.
I like Mickey, have found my peace and happiness in the southwest. I find it hard to believe that 30 years have passed since Dan Deitemyer, dropped me off at the University of New Mexico and for me a new way of life. The early 80's and a couple of tours in Beirut and Peru left me mentally exhausted.Places like that can change a man's soul and i'm humbled that i was able to find myself again in the tranquility and beauty of the high desert. The surly attitude and the chip on the shoulder are now nothing but distant memories replaced by kids, blackberry's and endless deadlines
Thank you to all for your questions and inquires and i am doing just awesome. I've been in the gaming business now for 20 years primarily opening new hotel, resorts and casinos here in Las Vegas.
In closing I recently learned of the passing of a classmates mother.despite the years it touched me deeply, whether we believe it or not we are all products of our youth and in our moments of truth we remember the acts of kindness, a hot meal a word of encouragment,or a kick in the ass when needed that we recieved from our mentors and from each other and becuase of it we are better humans.Thank you for welcoming and bringing me back into the RM family.
Warmest Regards Always,
K2

Dear Classmates:

We did it!

The 33+ Reunion has come and gone.

Folks in attendence had a blast and good times were had by all.

Suddenly, we're planning another soiree for Lee Corydon's arrival from Mauritious on July 31, 2009 at 7;30pm in Silver Spring.

Venue to be announced by email on July 13.

Several folks have already expressed interest in attending, so everyone is welcome.

Within 24 hours of releasing the photos to the events last weekend, 523 have accessed the website. Not bad. We continue to reach folks.

We sent out 183 postcards to the 201 Mising in Action last month and within three days, 777 people accessed the site.

We're getting there...

Keep your emails coming.

Rich – thanks once again for hosting a wonderful event. This weekend I thought about all the time and effort you must put into planning and hosting these events. I really appreciate the effort, plus I had a really nice time. Good company and great conversation.

I checked the Redskins schedule and it appears there will not be any Saturday games, except for one pre-season game. I hope you give it some thought to have an event at JJ Muldoon’s sometime this fall. Another place that might be of interest to some people is Gentleman Jim’s. It used to be in Twinbrook, but they moved it into Gaithersburg. Or, maybe Orange Ball Billiards in Rockville; we can have a mini-tournament. Then there is bowling. Heck, maybe you could poll people that live within a 50 to 75 mile radius to see what they suggest.

Again, thanks for hosting Friday’s event. By the way, did anyone ever tell you that you are very photogenic?

Many thanks to Rich and James for the hard work keeping the site updated.

Very few of us were at the picnic this past June. As some of you know I hand my thyroid yanked out as Doctors thought it might be cancer but it wasn't.

I dodged the reaper and yes it was qiute scary. I was able to pull off a major prank before the operation.

I brought in 2 lag bolts and told them have them sterilzed as I wanted them in my neck for extra stability.

My sisiter in law and her partner laughed insanely as no one had ever in medical history pulled a prank like this.

Right before I went under they asked why I was here and I of course said frontal lobotomy. The next thing I heard was the Dr. asked the assisting nurse to sterilize the bolts.

They all thought it was hysterical and still talk about the prank.

I have gained legendary prankster status form that one at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock Tx where I live now.

So I hope every one gets a chuckle out of that.

Hope every one is okay from our class of 1976 and can any one remember what the big fight was all about in spring 1974?

My e-mail is [email protected].

Thanks Rich and James for posting for me.

PS: My sister in law is the Dr. so I knew I could get away with the prank!

I really had a great time last July at SS Marriott. It was wonderful to see the faces of past friends - both new and not so new (none of us is old!) It's nice to be able to return to lil' Mauritius with such good memories which I WILL cherish for a long time.

Over the course of 35 years, I cannot begin to tell you how many dozens of times I’ve had to talk folks into coming to their reunions. There are many reasons why people do not go to their High School Reunions. I’m actually married to one of those people.

Regardless, generally speaking, the single most compelling reason why people do not go their Reunions is, “Weight Gain.” Oddly, when they wind up going to Reunion, they learn they are not alone and have nothing to fear.

The primary reason is that High School was such a nightmare for many, they prefer to pretend their lives began after High School and want to pretend they never attended.

In all cases, 100 out 100 people have thanked me profusely for helping them decide to go and clearly state what a wonderful time they had and appreciate my persistence.

Over the course of planning this particular gig, I have wanted to bail on all of you several times It’s been tough, not, to mention all the work associated with keeping the class together, informed and connected to one another. I would like to share the 34 emails I received as of May 23rd.

It’s very inspiring. Just keeping up on all the emails is a lot of work.
The website a lone is a 24/7 job.

However, I am proud of what we have accomplished compared to most other high schools around the nation.

I would like to share, the enormous amount of encouragement and understanding I have received from our fellow classmates as they have consistently inspired me to, as they said in 1976, “Keep On Trucking.”

Geeze, I haven’t said that in 35 years. How embarrassing. We thought hat term was cool then.

1.) Kind of like juggling plate and herding cats...at the same time!!

2.) I am not able to attend, but I really do appreciate all the trouble you have gone to in arranging it. You are a sweetheart and always have been.

3.) We lucked out with James. Bet he’s looking forward to this national nightmare being over as well.

4.) Sorry you are going through this.

5.) I am glad to be among the people that appreciate the hard work you and James are doing and the hoops that you are jumping through. Hang in there Daddio.

6.) I agree with all of the sentiments expressed below. You’ve done a wonderful job in a primarily apathetic environment. It’s much appreciated by everyone involved. Oh yeah, stop with the self depreciation. Hold your head high dude! You deserve it after this experience! Thanks again for your efforts.

7.) Thanks for all of your hard work in putting this together. As an Event Coordinator I know how much work goes into a successful event.

8.) Congrats with Positanos - I go there frequently from work - very close and good. How about now changing the date so that I can make it! Ha!

9.) You DA Man. And, no one else has your skill set. You’re stuck, baby.

10.) Hope you and James are well and your heads are not spinning from all the arrangements for the reunion. I certainly appreciate it and am looking forward to the fun.

11.) Thanks very much for planning the 35th reunion. I know how much work it is and I really appreciate you both for doing it.

12.) First --you are wonderful to do all this aggravating work!!!!

13.) Thanks for your patience and everything you are doing for this to come together. BTW you are the only politician who has made good on a promise

14.) Rich, only you could have pulled this off. You had this ability in High School, so, I'm certainly not surprised to see it now. Thank you.

15.) I didn’t even vote for you and look at what wonderful job you have done keeping us together. I’ve never regretted my voting habits to date, but, I blew it on you. Sorry.

16.) Rich great place. Thanks for the great work.

17.) And I join in with the others to say THANK YOU for all of your efforts and persistence---totally above-and-beyond--to make this reunion happen!!

18.) Thank you for all of the work you have put in to this event!!!

19.) James the website is a home run. I know Rich is the cheerleader for it and definitely the brains behind the content, but; does he help you at all? Way to go.

20.) It doesn't matter where it is, as long as we are all together.....I think we are a pretty adaptable group and will just "go with the flow"......

21.) Bet you regret running for Senior Class President. It’s a thankless job. But, you knew that back when you were planning the Homecomings, dances and proms. I never really got around to saying it directly. Thank you.

22.) You put an incredible amount of effort into managing these events for us and I hope you know how much you're appreciated. Although I know it's not enough, I'm going to give you a big hug of gratitude when I see you.

23.) I LOVE Positano's!!!! A true Italian restaurant! OMG - the atmosphere is great! I've eaten there many times.

23.) (Continued) They have an outside court yard; you're in the heart of Bethesda with all the little shops and other venues. I think you made a great choice!!!

24.) Thank you for being persistent. I am sure we will have a blast. My wife and I look forward to the event. Thanks for all your hard work, guys!

25.) You guys are doing an exceptional job. Lighten up on yourselves.

26.) Rich (class president for life), Sorry for all of your troubles but Positano's is a great choice! It will give us a much more intimate environment and since it's so close to many other spots.....(must I remind you of Tastee Diner!) more people will be encouraged to hang around.

27.) Don't stay up too late my Friend..We all appreciate your efforts...

28.) This location is a lot easier for me to get to, because it is subway handy!

29.) Well done! Class of 76 rocks!

30.) Sounds like a much better venue to me. Hotels always leave me cold.

31.) Fabulous! Can't wait!

32.) Must admit, the change of venue has piqued my interest..Not a fan of Gaithersburg, but Bethesda is a whole different thing

33.) Rich-Really pleased you found James. It’s like we get another set of hands to do all the work for free. Way to go guys. I can’t wait.

34.) You both are absolutely fabulous. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication to providing all of us with such a memorable experience. Many apologies for not having been available to provide you with assistance. I will be available for after party and picnic for any help you need -- just let me know.

Maybe, you can see, as I have, that these folks have aged like a good wine and have matured. They are not the same folks you feared or despised in High School.

We have some hero’s amongst us.

As matter of fact, following all of this “Loyalty,” it reminded me why I was doing all of this work to begin with.

And, I must take this moment to thank my partner in Life, James. He has put everything in his life professionally and personally on the back burner for RMHS Class of 1976. We’re lucky, no, I’m LUCKY, to have him.

So, why do I do it? It’s because, “We Rock.”

All in All, RMHS 1976 was a pretty good place to grow up!

71 New Thank You's have arrived since May 2011.

Believe it or not, we really do have some appreciative classmates.

Don't ask me about all the ones who value us less. However, there are some great stories.

Go to the Home page and see the "Thank You's and Appreciation section on the left near the top.

Well finally commenting here. Sorry to have missed all of you this past weekend..the first weekend in May I am always in Louisville. Rich did keep me in the loop as much as possible though.
Again, Rich THANK YOU AND JAMES for doing a TON of work to get these done.
Anyway, I would LOVE to see everyone next time. Working with Rich on that now.
Kawana did not mention his FAMOUS daughter. You cannot go to a Harrah's casino without seeing her. She is the face of "we ID 25" at all of them... I see that sign a few times a year.
Danny Franklin's profile..hilarious, but the Munzer/Burro thing is actually NOT a wive's tale.
Have had some good luck in the Bar biz.

Do a lot of travel, when I can. Not crazy about all of my pics showing up on the net (thanks Rich) the cameras nowadays...Someone was using one that makes me look fat and old...YUK
O well, now I know how to comment so maybe again sometime.

Take Care All

To all classmates who have not been to a Reunion:

Rich and James work their butts off doing the planning and executing all Reunions and get-togethers.

Kyle Remissong really jumps in for Rich and does the Picnics.

I have been to the 20th, 25th, 30th, & 35th. The 40th will be a blast. It's time for you to be there, too.

You will not regret it!

Landed on this site by mistake.

Thought it was my High School. RMHS.

I'm incredibly impressed with the organization of the site, exchanges and events.

We're lucky if we even get a phone call once every 5-10 years and I live in the neighborhood, not another country.

Once I find our organizers, it certainly wasn't our Class President who wrote off the Class at the beginning of Senior Year, I will direct them to this website and comments from classmates

Thank you Kevin Armstrong for getting it going.

Dear Bob:

I saw your comment last month and realized I never responded.

On behalf of RMHS's Class of '76, we hope you find your RMHS Class of '76.

Yes, we know every High School is different and some have never had a Reunion of any kind, yet alone informal gigs.

We are fortunate. One reason is the cohesiveness amongst our classmates. Many go through fire for one another.

Like you, even the folks who still live in the neighborhood are listed as, "Missing in Action," as they do not participate in class related matters or simply do not respond to us.

Best of luck in your search effort.

Hello, Class of 1976:

It's only been about two years since our last comment here.

Now, I'm trying to invite the "Facebook Crowd" to bring he discussion back to this space. However, I'm not sure how successful I will be. It seems the Fb gang prefers to hang out there. Oh well. :-(

I have also been told that it appears I'm going for the title of "Identity Theft Kingpin. I shall explain in detail:

From 7th to 12th grade, I was illegally registered in Montgomery County Public Schools, as my mother's second husband forced me to assume his name (Bedard) as he was stealing my biological father's Social Security benefit due me.

The big secret in high school, was that I emancipated myself as a minor senior year, while under enormous stress while maintaining the appearances of Joe High School being Senior Class President, Homecoming King and Most School Spirited. It's absolutely amazing I graduated high school, but with the support and assistance of our beloved Dr. Warren, it's amazing I got out. I then went off to college, and in order to get financial aid, I assumed my God-given name (Moonblatt) as there was no paper trail on me with the feds. Hence, that's where the name came from all these years.

Hence, in the past almost 40 years, no one has ever asked me!

On June 26 2013, The Supremes "Declared Us Constitutional" and I assumed my domestic partner's (James) last name. (Peterson).

We've been together over 10 years now and I assure you I'm finished with last names.

Okay, moving on and back to high school.

We will have a casual gig this fall probably sometime in October.

And then the Fab 40th will be the weekend of October 1.

So, stay tuned.

Didn't go to Richard Montgomery but did attend Julius West in 7th and 8th. Had to be the worst experience of my life. A lot of nasty bullying and cheap laughs. Even some of the teachers needed to be accountable for their actions. Anyone remember Ms. Jeanne S.. for English. For some reason I remember the names of almost everyone in that 5th period class in 7th grade and where they sat.:
An OK class except for one person.

1) Doug Masters
2) Mark Sokalski
3) James McCormack
4) Doug Masters
5) Kyle Remissong
6) Jamie Callaghan
7) Linda Martin
8) Pam Carpentier
9) Karen Waltz
10) Tina Suzynski
11) Silvia Heinrich
12) Mark Wolfram
13) Donna Windrow

Otherwise didn't a get bad education.

Dear Bruce:

You knew me as, Richard Bedard!

I'm uncertain if you are:

1.) Bruce Wehrli
2.) Bruce Whistler

I'm guessing, Whistler!

Regardless, Thank you for dropping by.

Since Julius West, I became the RMHS Senior Class President and am pretty much the Glue that keeps the class together! And, we're all quite close. As a matter of fact, we have loads of classmates that left after Julius West and still quite close with us today.

And, it just occurred to me, we failed put two very important events on our class website tonight. I will do it immediately. You're more than welcomed to join us at a casual soirée on November 7 at the Sheraton King Farm (Off Shady Grove Road) or at the RMHS Homecoming on October 2 and following at Miller's Alehouse (the old Shakey's Pizza) on Rockville Pike.

And, if you go back to the class website, you'll see we are having our 40th Reunion on October 1, 2016 with details to follow.

If you're on Facebook, join us at RMHS Class of 76. On that page, you'll see folks from Julius West, some of whom never went to RMHS. (Mark Gross and Heidi Bekebrede.)

As for your posting, you are incredibly close to name so many of our classmates, many of whom are very active in the class. I'm pretty good at remembering teacher's names, but not necessarily just their first name. I'm kind of lost at remembering what you're talking about?

Feel free to make contact with me directly at the [email protected]

Hi Bruce,
I am planning to go to the 40th next year even though I did not attend RMHS at all. I did go to 3 years at Julius West and then on to Wootton because we move across 270 from Woodley Gardens to Dufief in Gaithersburg. I too have some bullying memories from that time and I think it helps to talk about it especially to other people who lived though it. I hope that you will come to the reunion so that we can relate our stories and you can see that it is the nice ones like Richard who turn up.

Hi Heidi,
Nice to hear from you. I'll make it to some of the events at next year's RMHS 40th reunion 2016. Yes, we can share stories about our experience there at Julius West. JW was far different from what I experienced at Woodley Gardens Elementary School. At one point it was so unbearable that the guidance counselor, Mr. Wilson, said he would let me transfer to another junior high. At first I said yes and then later changed my mind because I thought it might be worse at another school. I left after 8th grade because my dad was stationed overseas as a foreign service officer. I didn't return to the Rockville area until my college years.

Well, for the classmates that have been following this on the commentary section, Bruce and I have been talking offline and we're both on the same page.

Heidi, like all of us, seventh-grade was a very tough time. Fortunately, we all out grew it and the Class of 76 really took care of it's own.

And, just last night at the Launch of The Fab 40th, the "precursor to our Three Day 40th Reunion Weekend" in October 2016, we had a lovely time celebrating old times and discussing next year.

The plans are all set and anyone can check it all out at www.RMHS1976.com and in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage you will find a tab called "Upcoming Events 2016 – – Fab 40th Reunion!"

Heidi, we are really looking forward to seeing you and your sisters. As you know, you were so warmly welcomed when you attended the last time.

Bruce, we hope like Heidi, you'll join us, as well. The junior high days are over and I'm certain you'll have a wonderful time.

Only good things,

~Rich

Hi All.
First off, Rich, I think it's great that you have assumed your past and use all your various names at once.
Secundo, wow, I finally got around to reading your 'brief' of next year's 40th and am gobsmacked! Funny word that. What a line up. I am really looking forward to it. Let me know what I can do to help from my humble perch on the other side of the world/opposite (is that possible?) hemisphere.
And, finally, to the panoply of people who make up our great class of RMHS 76, I look forward to seeing and sharing with as many of you as possible next October 1st, God willing.
Blessings, love, health and Merry Christmas to all as we approach the final countdown days of 2015.

Dear Lee:

King Pin of Identity Theft that I am, I have no choice but to use all three names to keep folks posted, as everyone has associated me with one of them somewhere!

It would be so much easier to stay with "Peterson" as that is the "name Du jour!" And, frankly, that name will remain with me from here on out.

The emails launching The Fab 40th will go out in mid January, as I'm traveling to Cuba at the of the month, but it's already written and ready to go.

Thank you for offering to help as I do need volunteers and they can work from their desks at home. An easy job is assisting with finding MIA's (folks Missing in Action) on LinkedIn and Facebook. The assignment is quite easy.

All one has to do is send one email and I've already written the copy. The MIA does the rest! It's that easy. Hopefully, the folks here on Facebook will jump in, as well.

There are other tasks as well. And those are for folks who are good with their laptops and desktops and can assist with the online memory book, slideshow, and more.

Fb people, keep up with us on the commentary section of WWW.RMHS1976, as it's another place to share information and build camaraderie.

James and I wish all of you very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Looking forward to working with and through all of you over the course of the coming year to make the Fab 40th a "Gobsmacking Event!"

Bests,

RichandJames

I can’t believe this! First, they take away Aunt Jemima, then Uncle Ben and Mrs. Butterworth. Now they want to rename Richard Montgomery because they say he had slaves. What is wrong with these kids today?

I was in class of 76 at Richard Montgomery but got GED in 1977. I was absent a lot due to illness. I am interested in keeping in touch with former class mates. Thanks. I was told I could still attend class of 76 reunions and events. I attended Richard Montgomery High School part of 1976 but was in hospital the day of graduation due to surgery.

Hey, folks....

I thought, I responded here publicly, as I made contact with Vania and Debbie privately.

As for the "Postponement" of the 45h, it might happen come mid-September, which I have yet to formally announce to the class-at-large.

The recent spike with the BA. 2 Omicron subvariant, might further postpone our Reunion.

Details to follow once the "Science" is resolved.

StayTuned..
